Terms of use, in plain words.

1. The software

LedgerDesk is accounting and GST invoicing software for Windows. You install it on your PC and your books are stored on that PC. These terms apply when you download, install or use it.

2. Free trial

You can use LedgerDesk free for 14 days from the first time you open it, with every feature in the version you installed. When the trial ends without a licence, the app becomes read-only: you can still open, view, print and export your books, but you cannot add or change entries. Nothing is deleted.

3. Licence

• To keep adding entries after the trial, you need a licence key from us. Contact us on WhatsApp for the price.
• A licence is for one PC. Do not share your key. To move it to another PC, contact us with the Machine ID shown in Settings.
• A licence keeps working for up to 14 days without the internet; after that the app needs to check it online.
• If a licence ends or is cancelled, the app becomes read-only as described above.

4. Your data and your responsibility

Your books belong to you. You are responsible for what you enter, for the details of your customers and suppliers, and for keeping your own backups. The app makes a daily backup on your PC, but a PC can be lost or damaged, so keep a copy elsewhere too (for example with Backup Now to a pen drive).

5. GST and accounting

LedgerDesk helps you work out GST and prepare figures and files. It does not file returns or e-way bills for you, and it is not tax, legal or accounting advice. Check your figures, and have them reviewed by your accountant, before you file or pay. GST rules change; you are responsible for using the correct rates and details for your business.

6. Cloud backup

Cloud backup is in testing. If you turn it on, a copy of your books is kept on our server as described in the privacy policy. It is an extra copy, not a replacement for your own backups, and while it is in testing it may change or be unavailable at times.

7. Updates

We may release new versions that add, change or remove features. The app offers updates; installing them is your choice, and updates keep your books.

8. No warranty

We work hard to make LedgerDesk correct and reliable, but it is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be free of errors or suit every business. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits or penalties, arising from use of the software. Nothing here limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be limited.

9. Fair use

Do not copy, resell or share the software or licence keys, try to get around the licence check, or misuse our servers.
